TITLE: THE
OTHER END OF THE LEASH
AUTHOR: Patrica McConnell
Category: Overview, training
This is a wonderful read that
has as much empathy for the human
as the dog. It allows us
to examine ourselves and our
mistakes not only without being
made to feel like we need to
defend ourselves, but in a way
that we can feel encouraged to
handle our dogs more effectively.

AUTHOR: Jean Donaldson
Category: Overview, training Although not very well organized
as a reference book and seems
presumptious about the state
of knowledge that most dog

is still frequently recommended,
and filled with a lot of
good information and can
be an excellent starting
point. Many people
read this book again and

TITLE: CLINICAL
BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE FOR SMALL
ANIMALS
AUTHOR: Dr. Karen L. Overall (Board Certified
Veterinary Behaviorist)
Category: Treatment, behavior problems, research
Although somewhat advanced and
directed towards those with a
real interest in problem behavior,
this is one of the best books
out there covering behavior problems
from a behavioral and medical
standpoint. Meant for veterinary
students, the sections on behavior
and behavior modification still
reasonably accessible to the
advanced reader who has an avid
interest in behavior problems. It
covers cats and dogs, from aggression
to separation anxiety to obsessive
compulsive behaviors. It
includes exercises in the back
for deferment and relaxation
protocols as well as active behavior
modification. Highly recommended.

Recently, there have been anecdotal

hypothyroidism-associated aggression
